Commercial insurance CRM requirements checklist
Define the records, handoffs and controls a commercial insurance CRM needs to support.
A commercial insurance CRM should reflect the way a brokerage manages relationships and work, while preserving a clear source for each important fact. Begin with the roles using it and the events they need to record: enquiries, activities, renewals, referrals, decisions and service requests.
Design the workflow
For each record, define its owner, permitted updates, required fields and relationship to the client, business, policy and opportunity. Separate factual customer information from internal assessment and task notes. Agree how changes are attributed and how duplicate records are identified.
Test and govern
Then check workflow and oversight: can a colleague see the next action, due date and responsible owner? Can managers identify overdue work and exceptions? Which fields feed reports, and how are corrections reconciled? Include access rules, retention, exports, integrations, migration and failure handling in the requirements. Validate the design with real case examples before comparing systems.
Define the source of truth, accountable owner and exception path before implementation. Test representative scenarios and retain the evidence needed to review outcomes. This practical guidance does not make a claim about a specific VYPR product capability.
