Planning a policy administration system migration

A practical sequence for scoping, testing and governing a policy administration migration.

A policy administration migration changes records, workflows and responsibilities at the same time. Treat it as a controlled operating change, not only a data transfer. Start by agreeing the products, policy states, documents and historic information that must be available on the first day.

Design the workflow

Profile representative records and identify duplicates, missing values, inconsistent dates and references that do not resolve. Map each source field to its destination, define transformations and retain a reconciliation total. Decide how in-flight quotes, renewals, adjustments and cancellations will be handled at cutover.

Test and govern

Build test cases around complete journeys and difficult exceptions. Compare source and destination totals, sample documents and permissions, and record who signs off each result. Rehearse cutover and rollback with named owners and a clear decision point. Keep a query queue for records that cannot be safely mapped rather than silently guessing. After launch, monitor exceptions and reconcile until agreed measures are stable.

Define the source of truth, accountable owner and exception path before implementation. Test representative scenarios and retain the evidence needed to review outcomes. This practical guidance does not make a claim about a specific VYPR product capability.
