Rate Distribution & APIs

Insurance rate distribution integration checklist

Key interface, validation and operational questions for distributing insurance rates.

A rate distribution interface needs more than a successful connection. Before implementation, define which party owns each field, how a request is identified and what constitutes a complete response. Agree supported values, formats, required fields and how validation errors are returned.

Design the workflow

Document authentication and access boundaries, versioning, timeouts, retries and idempotency. Specify how the consumer distinguishes a referral, a decline, an incomplete response and an indicative result. Make sure errors can be correlated across systems without exposing unnecessary personal or commercial information in logs.

Test and govern

Create contract tests for valid requests, missing fields, changed schemas, duplicate submissions and unavailable dependencies. Define monitoring, alert ownership and reconciliation for requests that time out after processing. Keep example payloads and interface documentation under change control. A clear agreement makes integration behaviour easier to test without assuming a particular insurer, broker or platform capability.

Define the source of truth, accountable owner and exception path before implementation. Test representative scenarios and retain the evidence needed to review outcomes. This practical guidance does not make a claim about a specific VYPR product capability.
