Testing a rate change before release

Build a controlled test plan for proposed rating changes and their downstream effects.

A proposed rate change should be tested against an agreed set of inputs and expected outcomes before it reaches production. Start with the scope: affected products, territories, dates, input fields and any connected journey that displays or stores the result.

Design the workflow

Include representative cases, boundary values, referrals, missing data and interactions with other rules. Compare the proposed version with the approved baseline and explain every material difference. Check that effective dates select the intended version and that a rollback path is documented.

Test and govern

Record who approved the rule change, the test evidence, known limitations and monitoring plan. Validate the result in the full journey, not just an isolated calculation. After release, compare observed exceptions with expectations and escalate anomalies to the owner. This checklist describes a control approach and does not assert a particular rating capability.

Define the source of truth, accountable owner and exception path before implementation. Test representative scenarios and retain the evidence needed to review outcomes. This practical guidance does not make a claim about a specific VYPR product capability.
